Featuring the world renowned Limerick writer's classroom & recreations of impoverished Limerick homes of the 1930's.
When the young Frank Mc Court attended this Irish school, little did he know one day he would win the Pulizer Prize - the most prestigious international literary award. Neither was he to imagine that the very classroom in which he sat in Limerick, would go on to become the Frank McCourt Museum - attracting visitors from all around the world. This is a museum dedicated to the writer, Frank McCourt, most famous for, 'Angela's Ashes', his memoir of his childhood in Limerick. This tudor-style, listed building, 'Leamy's School', was where Frank and his brothers received their early education. Call to this great museum and experience the world of 'Angela's Ashes.'

Angela's Ashes Documentary Videos (Approx 15 Minutes )
Part 1 follows the Angela's Ashes tour of the city. This piece follows the tour with a group of Frank's oldest friends, tour guide, Mick O Donnell and Una Heaton, the museum's owner/curator,set in Leamy House, which was Frank's former school. Frank McCourt last visited Limerick in August 2008 to take part in the tour and on that occasion, the rain stayed at bay,as the author walked the backstreets or famous 'lanes' of his Limerick childhood.
Mick was nervous when Frank agreed to go on the tour, but he told us it didn't show on the day and that the tour brought back many memories for Frank. The lane along Barrack Hill has been widened, pushed back and is now complete with a row of modern, neat townhouses. "It looks like California," Frank had commented at the time.
The 'Angela's Ashes walking tour', has now been operating for more than 13 years and as the tour guide Mick O'Donnell tells us, "the book will never die."
In the second instalment of the Angela's Ashes documentary we hear from Frank Mc Court's wife Ellen, his brothers Malachy, Michael and Alfie. There are also contributions from various cousins and old friends, Billy Campbell, Eric Lynch and Una Heaton about their memories of the Pulitzer Prize winning author. They share their insights and amusing stories on Frank's early life, his character and his views on Limerick.
This documentary features a music piece commissioned for the purpose called 'Limerick Lamentation',by renowned Irish composer, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin and photographs from Frank's family album. It is a moving insight into a fascinating man's life. His wife Ellen told us 'I would tell him to enjoy it because he earned it and I think he would agree'
The Frank Mc Court Museum are grateful to Richard Lynch, who produced these videos for 'ILoveLimerick.com' and kindly granted permission to reproduce them here.
